You can tell a lot about a person from their plant preferences, and the same goes for favoured office foliage – as demonstrated by this week's Happy Monday, wonderful still lifes of workplace plants by photographer Polly Brown. For the project, now available as a monograph, Brown visited the offices of iconic London and New York brands – from publications (Dazed & Confused, The New Yorker) to designers (Vivienne Westwood, Burberry) to institutions like the ICA, and even the Google and Virgin headquarters – with the sole purpose of snapping their shrubbery. The results prove brilliantly varied: minimalist orchids at Vogue, blooming succulents at Diesel, and, amusingly, a little sprig of bracken sprouting from a stairway at Margaret Howell. The positive effects of indoor plants on their environment are notable – they are proven to clean the air and brighten the mood of a space. But if you don't have time to give your desk a plant-over just yet, take a tour of Brown's portraiture for Monday morning cheer.
