A selection of amazing fashion Polaroids taken by a restaurateur who goes simply by the name of Dave.
This week's Happy Monday comprises some of our happiest finds in a long time – a selection of amazing fashion Polaroids taken by a restaurateur who goes simply by the name of Dave. Born in Hong Kong but relocated to Paris by his parents aged 14, Dave was determined to integrate himself into Parisian culture lest he “end up dying in Chinatown”. In 1982, after working as a cook and waiter for a number of years, he was finally able to open his own restaurant, Dave, at 39 rue St Roch. It was an overnight success, its fate sealed when Francis Ford Coppola decided to book the entire place for his New Year’s Eve party that same year.
Since then Dave has been catering for some of the world’s most revered fashion, film and music icons, all of whom he photographs (often with himself included in the shot) for his personal journal. Dave is notoriously choosey, frequently hanging a “Complet” sign on the door when in fact the place is half empty – he dislikes tourists. Here, however, we are delighted to usher you inside Dave’s covert hotspot to be greeted by a number of joyously familiar faces, from a young Kate Moss and Johnny Depp, to David Bowie and Iman, and Helmut Newton and Karl Lagerfeld (note Dave in the centre striking a suitably smoldering pose).
Happy Monday! #anotherhappymonday
