Pierre Debusscherre and stylist Robbie Spencer relocate the catwalk to the backstreets of Paris for their menswear film, featuring their pick of the best new models
On the backstreets of Paris in the dark of night, director Pierre Debusscherre and stylist Robbie Spencer shot the new season Autumn/ Winter 2010 collections for AnOther Man. "As the menswear shows had just finished, we wanted to focus on key breakthrough models," explains Spencer, "casting Adnan Djinovic, Christian Ochsenfahrt, Tom Fonteyn, Joahnnes Niermann and Ole Jacobs – the new future gang of super male models." With Debusscherre's dramatic use of lighting the models vigorously pace down the streets, harshly lit under bright spotlights. "The whole idea was to bring the catwalk to the street" muses Debusscherre. Shot with a handheld and candid feel appearing like reportage, "we wanted it to appear spontaneous," says Spencer, "a kind of behind the scenes experience." Dressed in a clash of colours, prints and shapes the models' looks contrast strikingly with the urban backdrop, cutting intriguing silhouettes in late night shadows. The potent soundtrack – made exclusively by 254 Studio – plays out evocatively to the beat of the models' strides.
