This week's @anotherloves edit extols the virtues of artful collaborations and novelty pendants, from Chanel birdcage earrings to lollipop lamps
This week marked the launch of Apple's hotly anticipated collaboration with Hermès on the Apple Watch Hermès, which sees supple, handmade leather straps, created by the house's artisans in France, paired with an Hermès watch face reinterpreted by Apple designers in California. The straps come in three interchangeable styles, each inspired by equestrian fixtures, including the Double Tour band in Feu, seen above, and Loved by AnOther's senior fashion editor, Agata Belcen. "Great collaborations like this one feel effortless," she explains of her choice. "Like you can't imagine them not having existed."
When it comes to luxurious vintage finds, Chanel's extensive archive of novelty designs is the gift that keeps on giving (the 80s and 90s were particularly fruitful decades in this respect). These bold, gold birdcage earrings are no exception, featuring the house's iconic logo in place of the traditional feathered occupant. "They exemplify that curious cohesive fusion of playfulness and storied decadence that we've come to expect (and love) of Chanel," reveals their Lover and AnOthermag.com editor, Natalie Rigg.
Since Salone del Mobile closed its doors for another year earlier this month, we've been digesting the latest interiors trends it presented (for more on that, head here) as well as compiling a sizeable wish list of fabulous furnishings. Fine glass purveyors Lasvit have spent the past two years restoring the ancient chandeliers of Milan's 18th-century palace, Palazzo Serbelloni, the opulent interiors of which played host to a showcase of modern chandeliers for the duration of the design fair. Featuring a dazzling selection of pendants by Lasvit collaborators, the display included these irreverent lollipop lights by Slovakian designer Boris Klimek, complete with pastel glass pendants which aptly evoke the texture and appearance of the hard-boiled sugary treat.
It's no secret that a collection of chic workout wear is key a motivational tool when prising yourself from your bed for an early morning run. What better, then, than a cult hoodie from Vetements that can double-up as a laid-back accompaniment to jeans and pumps, thanks to its boxy fit and extra-long sleeves (a defining feature of Demna Gvasalia's burgeoning brand).
Today sees the opening of Alec Soth's celebrated exhibition Gathered Leaves at Bradford's National Media Museum, fresh from its stint at London's Science Museum. The show's accompanying catalogue by Mack Books is one of the best we've seen, featuring four miniature versions of Soth's previously published photo-books – each filled with the evocative observations of American life that populate the exhibition walls – as well as large-format postcards of 29 of the works, which are ideal for framing.
