Magnum’s Square Print Sale has returned – this time with the theme of ‘Way for Escape’

Over the past 18 months, the idea of ‘escapism‘ has infiltrated the arts. Combatting the depression and anxiety brought on by the pandemic, fashion designers, artists, photographers and filmmakers alike have dreamed or imagined new futures in their work, providing us with some welcome relief – however brief – from the realities of life in the age of coronavirus.

Titled Way for Escape, the latest iteration of Magnum Photos’ biannual Square Print Sale also reflects this idea, offering an array of 90 photographs which all possess a transporting element in one sense or another – from a peaceful scene of monks by Mount Fuji to a portrait of George Harrison at The Beatles’ first concert.

For those unacquainted with the sale, the twice-yearly event – which runs for just seven days – gives photography enthusiasts the chance to purchase a piece of photographic history for just $100. Each time, the sale features signed or estate-stamped, museum-quality prints from some of the best known names of the medium.

This inspiring collection of prints is no different, featuring captivating photographs lensed in all corners of the world by the likes of Alec Soth, Susan Meiselas, Martin Parr, Jim Goldberg, Khalik Allah, Alessandra Sanguinetti, Paul Fusco, Sohrab Hura, Cornell Capa, and many more. Shop the Way for Escape print sale here.

Way for Escape: Magnum’s Square Print Sale runs from July 12 – 18, 2021. Signed and estate-stamped, museum-quality, 6x6” prints from over 100 artists will exceptionally be available for $100, for seven days only.
