The Another Man Advent Calendar

This December, the editors of Another Man have created an Instagram exclusive: an unique advent calendar tailor made for four fantasy cover stars – Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Mapplethorpe and Kurt Cobain. Each day over the course of the month, a new gift will be revealed – 6 presents for each icon, all of which are available to buy, thus proving a handy gift guide for those seeking inspiration. The presents have been skillfully captured on Polaroid by photographer and regular Another Man contributor Gareth Powell.

The Another Man advent calendar enters its final week with iconic grunger Kurt Cobain stepping into the gift-receiving spotlight. The notoriously scruffy Nirvana frontman has been presented with a new raincoat, courtesy of Stutterheim, in Stockholm Lang Green; an understated but luxurious Earth Cotton Cashmere T-Shirt in Soft Sand by The White Briefs; a first editon of Perfume by Patrick Suskind (his favourite book) from November Books; a pair of Chuck Taylor Classic Converse in Opticial White (perhaps we'll scuff them up a bit first); a Mohair Drop Stitch Border Knit by Junya Watanabe Men from The Goodhood Store (because it could have been made for him) and to satify his love of leopard print, a Men’s Leopard Print Faux Fur Scarf By Gosha Rubchinskiy from Oki-Ni.

Week three took a tough, dark, glamorous turn as Robert Mapplethorpe takes over as our gift recipient. The sleek photographer has been presented with a Saint Laurent By Hedi Slimane Curtis Tasselled Leather Jacket to add to his collection, available from Matches Fashion; a playful yet minimalist set of Anonymous Matriochkas Wooden Russian Dolls by Maison Martin Margiela Objects & Publications from Mr Porter; a Silver Lines Ring by Tobias Wistisen and a complementary black calfskin and silver leather belt by Lanvin; Phaidon's brilliant Andy Warhol Catalogue Raisonné series, also available from Mr Porter; and (because too much leather is never enough), a pair of classic leather driving gloves by Dents.

Week two was bold and bright, with a hippie twist as Jimi Hendrix takes the gift-receiving spotlight. The legendary guitarist has been presented with a psychedelic Elephant & Castle Full Print Shirt by Kit Neale; a trio of Tribal Rings by Louis Vuitton; Enhanced Square Sunglasses by Linda Farrow for Prabal Gurung (perfect for hiding tired eyes after a night of revellery); Incense Series 3 by Comme des Garçons from Dover Street Market; a Paisley Print Silk Pocket Square by Etro from Mr Porter, which can of course double up as a bandana; and a Plucked Feather Pendant by Slim Barrett.

Week one was unadulterated rock 'n' roll in honour of the inimitable Elvis Presley. The king has been presented with a folding comb from Taylor of Old Bond Street (perfect for quick quiff maintenance); a pair of classic blue jeans from The Jean Machine; the ultimate car bible, Cadillac: 110 Years by Assouline, available from Mr Porter; a chic suitcase by Globe-Trotter; a Hawaiian shirt from Beyond Retro (for those seaside ukulele sessions); and a slick, ivory shaving set by Dr.Harris & Co.
