Another Man S/S14 celebrates London style with an eclectic collage of the capital's finest talent wearing the best of the season
In a unique casting moment, Another Man brought together a fascinating collage of London men to showcase the S/S14 collections. Shot by Julia Hetta and styled by Robbie Spencer, the likes of iconic stylist and jeweller Judy Blame, hairstylist and “bon viveur” James Jeanette, designer Charlie Casely-Hayford, artist Harland Miller and all-round legend Michael Costiff came together to model key looks from the latest round of menswear collections, and to share their favourite London memories and tips.
“I was seventeen, it was 1977, so I dyed my hair orange and thought I’d run away to London and make loads of punk friends.” In these words of Judy Blame, we find all the allure and danger of London. A place of possibility, escape and subversion, it is not only a crucible of dreams but the graveyard of hopes, hard as nails and littered with failures past. But for this group of Londoners – some born and bred, some adopted – the capital has forged careers and determination, making dreams come true, yielding up unexpected and weirdly shaped treasures. As Miller says, "the best thing about London is that it doesn't give up its secrets instantly. It's got a Lewis Carroll aspect. You have to stay here a while until you meet someone who introduces you through the door into Wonderland." So, in this film shot on the set of Hetta and Spencer’s shoot, we enjoy the varied wisdom and style of these very different, but still uniquely London, boys.
