The 20th issue and 10th anniversary edition of Another Man stars the mesmeric Dane DeHaan
"Since its launch in 2005, Another Man has created an alternative vision of men. This special 20th issue, marking our 10th birthday, is an exciting moment to celebrate the free spirit of the magazine and the dynamic characters we champion in its pages" – Alister Mackie, creative director
Celebrating 10 years of Another Man, this special 20th issue showcases four covers.
Dane DeHaan – Hollywood’s go-to man for complex outsiders – appears on two covers photographed by Willy Vanderperre and styled by Another Man’s creative director Alister Mackie. In the accompanying interview, LA novelist and screenwriter Bruce Wagner talks to the actor about taking on the ultimate big-screen misfit, James Dean.
Style icon and cultural hero Jarvis Cocker is this issue’s second cover star. Photographed inside a cave by Alasdair McLellan and styled in bespoke suiting by Mackie, Cocker creates a piece of writing inspired by the location. McLellan and Mackie also team up for this season’s fourth cover story, starring LA chanteuse Lana Del Rey.
Inside the issue, to commemorate 40 years since the murder of Pier Paolo Pasolini, filmmaker Mark Cousins pens a rallying letter to the late Italian provocateur; given exclusive access to Rudolf Nureyev’s archive, photographer Julia Hetta pieces together an intimate portrait of the world’s greatest dancer; and Tim Blanks flicks through the pages of ultra-rare 70s magazine Star and is instantly transported back to the glittering heart of Los Angeles glam.
Elsewhere, Raf Simons opens his family photo album to share the stories behind the images adorning his S/S15 collection; Northern Soul’s breakthrough star Josh Whitehouse is photographed by Vincent van de Wijngaard and styled by Another Man’s fashion director Mattias Karlsson; and ‘Who’s Happening’ showcases a portfolio of ten Californian artists, musicians and surfers.
Plus: an impossible conversation between Marc Bolan and James Dean; vintage porn posters; backstage with Steven Tyler; striped pyjamas; psychedelic sunglasses; and a pull-out poster of Jarvis Cocker and Lana Del Rey.
