Expression of Emotions: Cillian Murphy

Watch Cillian Murphy's compelling Another Man A/W15 cover shoot come to life in this exclusive film by Julien Pujol

His career thus far has seen him survive the living dead, battle Batman not once but three times, and wage gang wars on the streets of Birmingham in hit TV series Peaky Blinders. Nonetheless, blue-eyed Irishman Cillian Murphy takes on his greatest screen adversary yet this December; an 80-tonne sperm whale in a rage.

The film, In the Heart of the Sea by Ron Howard, which exposes the true story behind Melville's epic Moby-Dick, depicts a seafaring crew of a whaleship called the Essex. Murphy, who grew up in Cork on the south-west coast of Ireland, took to the role quickly. “They’ve grown up together, sailing together as boys,” he told his interviewer, whale-watcher and author Philip Hoare, of the crew in the film. “I could relate to that, because it was the kind of thing that I did.”

This exclusive film directed by Julien Pujol gives an atmospheric glimpse behind the scenes of Murphy’s cover shoot, styled by Alister Mackie and lensed by Willy Vanderperre. The actor assumes a reflective role in the sombre scenes, lingering and melancholic.
