For the past three nights, anarchy has come to the streets of London and beyond. What started as a peaceful protest in Tottenham on Saturday evening resulted in devastating scenes of violence, rioting and looting, from areas including Hackney, Peckham, Croydon, Ealing, Clapham and Enfield. Homes and personal possessions as well as business have been destroyed including a furniture shop which has passed through five generations of a family. In the aftermath, residents have pledged to reclaim streets vandalised by organising spot clean-ups.
London is a city close to our hearts. In celebration of the city, we invited AnOther's contributors to send us their favourite photograph of the capital from their personal archives. After days of disturbing imagery, these shots, ranging from shots of landmark monuments, skylines, moments with friends and key characters, remind us what a beautiful and inspirational place London can be.
