The champagne maker tasked the celebrated artist with creating an installation and bar space at Frieze London 2021
After a long Covid-induced hiatus, Frieze’s white tents have returned to Regent’s Park once more. Celebrating artistic talent from all corners of the globe, the annual fair offers a vast and eclectic display of works by both emerging and established artists, and features everything from sculpture and installations, to painting, photography and film, and more. Amid this carnival of artistic talent, be sure not to miss Ruinart’s immersive installation and bar space, Unconventional Bubbles, which has been curated by celebrated British contemporary artist David Shrigley.
Providing a welcome pit stop at the busy fair, the space brings together champagne refreshment courtesy of Ruinart and Shrigley’s wry, cartoon-like artworks. Shrigley specially created 42 pieces for the space, which use “humour to reveal the hidden side of champagne production, the savoir-faire, and Ruinart’s relationship with nature.” Highlights include a playful 3D contruct of his artwork Elegance Doorway, through which guests will be invited to crawl, and a huge, snaking physical evolution of his artwork, worms.
Unconventional Bubbles by Ruinart and David Shrigley is open at Frieze Art Fair, London, 13-17 October.
