On Tuesday night AnOther Magazine and Krug Champagne celebrated the launch of Issue 21 with a private dinner during New York Fashion Week at The Fat Radish. Hosted by Jefferson Hack and Krug's International Ambassador Carl Heline, guests included Daphne Guinness, Carine Roitfeld, Michael Stipe, Helena Christensen, Johan Lindenberg, last issue's cover star Léa Seydoux, Sarah Lerfel, Waris Ahluwalia, Hannelore Knuts and Suzy Menkes.
The lower east side eaterie is not only known for the exceptional quality of its food but also the creativity of its menu. Its imaginative approach to gourmet was perfectly illustrated by the bespoke menu devised by Fat Radish to highlight their collaboration with AnOther Magazine and Krug for the evening. Krug’s renowned Grand Cuvee was paired with Oyster canapés, followed by a starter of whitebait, inspired by Jefferson's hometown, and a seasonal purslane and nectarine salad. “When thinking about Krug, we considered the French countryside – somewhere beautiful and rustic. So we decided to serve the main course, a brined chicken with stuffing, family style, which is a very rustic and homey approach to plating,” explained Caroline Sheahan of the Fat Radish. The meal concluded with a peach upside down cake that was finished with Cognac, a nod to Carl Heline of Krug who is from the Cognac region, and whose family made cognac themselves, before guests left with a Camacho cigar, the final pairing for the evening.
After dinner, guests were invited to New York’s hippest new venue Pulqueria. Although situated in China town, the new sister venue to apothecary inspired bar, Apotheke, had clearly drawn on Mexico for its design references. Guests enjoyed similarly Mexican inspired cocktails prepared especially by top mixologists including delicious Margherita de Mercados, made with Patron Silver Tequila and Kanon Organic Vodka based Guava Suave's. Mandy and Mandy, Mike from Ratatat and the Misshapes provided the music keeping guests dancing late into the night.
