This summer, AnOthermag.com sets off on a unique roadtrip across Europe, taking in the sights of Paris, Antwerp, Berlin and Gdynia in association with Canon and the new IXUS 510 HS. It is just the latest in a long cultural history of road trips – indeed historians credit Pharaoh Ramses II with undertaking the first in the thirteenth century BC – but in modern times, they are less associated with a chariot ride to war than with open-top cars, windswept headscarves, glinting sunglasses and glamorous women.
Motives and ambience can vary: from Che Guevara’s journey of discovery around South America, hair-raising escapes from justice with Bonnie and Clyde or Thelma and Louise, to drug fuelled escapades in Fear and Loathing, sexual awakening unravelling on the road in Y Tu Mamá También and a family rapprochement in Little Miss Sunshine. For AnOther, the aim is to explore cultural landmarks, key fashion locations and hidden treasures in Europe’s most vibrant metropolises, capturing every moment using Canon's new camera, which is wi-fi enabled, allowing the travellers to upload their images on the move.

Going along for the ride is London-based singer-songwriter Valentina, whose mesmeric EP Weights was released in 2011. Her guest vocals appeared last summer on Joe Goddard’s anthemic sleeper hit Gabriel, and she is gearing up to release her debut solo album this summer, while currently supporting Kindness on their tour. Wielding Canon's IXUS 510 HS camera will be London based Stephanie Sian Smith, an exciting new talent in art and fashion photography. Their journey will include trips to the Paris Catacombes, the Berlin Zoo and the beehives on top of Le Grand Palais, taking a rowing boat along Antwerp’s canals and visiting Raf Simons’ favourite florist, before winding up at one of Poland’s biggest music events, Open'er festival in Gdynia.
Throughout the trip, our ambassadors will be compiling a photo diary with images of their adventures, and updating a unique interactive map with details of their whereabouts. A journey of adventure, glamour, discovery and sunshine – this is a roadtrip that is guaranteed to be worth watching.
