Who? High Society.
What? An exhibition exploring the role of mind-altering drugs in history and culture.
Why? Challenging the perception that drugs are a disorder of the modern day, this show explores how such substances and the impulse to go beyond the experience of normal daily life have existed throughout history. Drawing on a wide range of sources from a variety of disciplines – drugs have often inspired and been documented by artists, writers, musicians and scientists – the exhibition invites visitors to question our modern attitudes and opinions in the light of other times and cultures.
Where? High Society runs 11 November 2010 – 27 February 2011 at the Wellcome Collection.
