Who? Dolce & Gabbana, Hussein Chalayan, Issey Miyake, Jean Paul Gaultier, John Galliano, Karl Lagerfeld, Maison Martin Margiela, Nicolas Ghesquière, Rei Kawakubo, Vivienne Westwood and numerous other prominent fashion designers.
What? In its second installment, this extensive exhibition highlights and explores fashion’s main personalities and 150 of their collections dating between 1970 and 2000.
Why? The individual taste and aesthetic of these designers has shaped the style of the past two decades. Divided into several movements, visitors are taken on a journey through shifting trends and pioneering designs – which range from Hussein Chalayan’s “wearable, portable architecture” to the outlandish haute couture of John Galliano for Christian Dior. Insightful, interesting and inspiring, this exhibition celebrates the incredible vision and exceptional ability of these risk-taking fashion virtuosos.
