What? A Journey in Fashion, a travelling exhibition that charts the history of Joyce, Hong Kong’s favourite fashion retailer.
Why? Joyce has been keeping the fashion forward of Asia in cutting edge designs for 40 years. Beginning as a small independent retailer in 1970, when Joyce Ma opened a store in British-ruled Hong Kong, today it is an internationally renowned destination with stores all over China. It has both a respected pedigree as a high fashion hotspot and a knack for fostering talented new designers. Their reputation is reflected by the clout of the names listed above, all of whom are taking part in the exhibition by flying out runway collections to display. In addition, a host of luxury food and drink brands such as Ladurée, Badoit, Absolut and Poilâne are to collaborate with artists from all over the world – such as David Downtown, Zeng Fanzhi, Yue Minjun, Hippolyte Romain, and Cedric Rivrain – to create a range of exclusive, limited edition products to celebrate the store’s 40 years.
Where? A Journey In Fashion runs at the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences from 8 – 31 December 2010. It will then travel to Shanghai on 7 January 2011, where it will run for one month, and then to Paris in early March 2011 for Fashion Week - both venues TBC.
