This Happy Monday we rediscover the forgotten charm of America's public phones
Can you remember the last time you used a payphone? Neither can we. The coin-operated public telephones that were so popular up until the nineties have become a rarity these days, public landlines progressively losing their point as technology pulls us away from anything analogue. When he’s not working as a motion designer, Dan Marker-Moore likes cruising around the neighbourhoods of L.A., San Diego, Las Vegas and San Francisco documenting the vibrant phone booth scenes of America’s biggest cities before they disappear completely. Whether concealed by remarkable street art, mounted at convenience stores, fitted against textured walls or underground on subway platforms, Marker-Moore’s public phones are charged with history and character. We’ve enjoyed looking at this colourful Instagram account, so here is a selection of our favourite payphones to kick your week off with a joyful blast from the past.
