Current mood on the Loves stream is "wish we were in California"

Reflections make for great stories. Narcissus fell in love with his own and drowned, plunging into a pool to be with his beloved. The evil queen relied so heavily on her magic mirror’s approval that, when informed that her reflection was no longer “the fairest in the land” she ordered a hit on Snow White. In the most haunted house in the world – Myrtles Plantation – there is a mirror in which the souls of a murdered family are alleged to lurk, trapped for eternity. But these are all rather melodramatic reflective tales. This week’s vote winner, Loved by Tish Wrigley, is a more mellow affair – a solitary basketball hoop captured in a gleam of a puddle by photographer Dominic Bugatto. Framed with palm tree shadows and shards of blue sky, it perfectly encapsulates our Friday mood, and where we’d most like to be spending this weekend. So as we find our nearest court, here Wrigley gets reflective on mirrors in movies alongside some of our favourite sunny spots.

Why did you choose to love this image?
It has strong Californian vibes, and I'm going there for the first time in a few weeks.

Where would you keep it if you owned it?
Kitchen wall – to balance out the 'Allo 'Allo homage currently going on.

What’s your favourite reflection moment in popular culture?
Nicolas Roeg does mirrors best, especially in Don't Look Now.

Can you play basketball?
I think I can, because I've never tried.

Hoops or studs?
Bear Brooksbank hoops.

Hula hoop crisps or hula hooping?
I am the proud owner of a very dusty weighted hula hoop – that was last year's fitness fad, I should get back on it.

What are you looking forward to most this summer?
Surfing in Big Sur and everything else on my checklist of LA clichés.
