Ditto Press's fabulous still life images have earned this week's coveted Happy Monday spot
Not only are independent publishers Ditto Press responsible for getting some of our all-time favourite titles onto bookshelves, but they are also the creators of one of our favourite online shops. Featuring tomes from AnOther favourites like Grace Wales Bonner, Toby Mott and Jamie Reid, their's is a treasure trove of contemporary publishing at its finest – but equally boasts the best e-commerce images around. Eschewing the Amazon-led tradition of banality, Ditto Press creates their own still lives to explore the theme of each book they have to offer: Laurence Hamburger's collection of tabloid posters is presented by a hand model with terrifyingly good nail extensions; Dan Wilton's exploration of LA culture is positioned amidst the pebbles ordinarily found at the bottom of a tropical aquarium. While we all know the aphorism that we ought not judge a book by its cover, Ditto Press are determined to make that more of a challenge than most, and are thus the deserved recipients of this week's Happy Monday.
To see some of Ditto Press's offerings in real life (with special editions of titles including Skinheads and the classic Ninja Turtle Sex Museum) – alongside the AnOther Digital Limited Edition, Sorika Books, super/collider and many, many more – pop by Future Artefacts this weekend and see the future of print publishing the way that it deserves to be seen: in person.
