“The spring 2011 collection captures the spirit of modern-day female dandies… the Dandy-lions. Their contrasting elements create an energetic dialogue.” Phillip Lim
Dandyism began with Beau Brummel, a man famed for his sense of style and the time it took him to get ready – a rumoured five hours, which a select audience was permitted to watch. His fame relates specifically to his sex and attitude to beautifying himself compared to other men who thought it irreverent. This very masculine trend now turns its focus to women; we have seen androgynous attitudes in the past but never with this much attention to detail. Partnered with the signature svelte silhouette of the ceramics of artist Roseline Delisle, whose vases are simple yet dominant, classic yet modern, Lim’s womenswear collection looks set once again to be incredibly inspiring.
