Who? John Baldessari.
What? His new exhibition of 15 foot, clothed Giacometti-like sculptures.
Why? One of the most influential conceptual artists of our generation, Baldessari wanted to fuse art and fashion by pushing the skinniness and emaciation of Giacometti’s sculptures and what they represent further. Clothing his elongated sculptures in garments, they stand between the columns of the exhibition’s foundation building, parodying a kind of immobile, fashion show.
Where? John Baldessari 'The Giacometti Variations' is at Fondazione Prada from October 29 – December 31.
