The singer’s much-anticipated follow-up to her 2016 album A Seat at the Table has arrived

Following a video teaser posted on social media yesterday – including her new account on BlackPlanet, an African-American online community – Solange has released her new album, When I Get Home. The 19-track album, which dropped at midnight, marks the former AnOther cover star’s much-anticipated follow-up to 2016’s acclaimed A Seat at the Table, and is her fourth album.

Spanning jazz, electronic music, funk and hip-hop, the album explores the artist’s roots in Houston, Texas, where she was born and raised, and includes samples from several under-heralded figures who also hail from the Texan city, including choreographer Debbie Allen, actress Phylicia Rashad and the poet Pat Barker. A diverse group of collaborators worked alongside Solange on the album, from Playboi Carti, Panda Bear, Devin the Dude, The Internet’s Steve Lacy and Abra to Pharrell Williams, Dev Hynes and Tyler the Creator, among others.

Moments after the release, Solange posted a message of gratitude on her Twitter account: “I’m filled with so much joy right now!!! Wow! I can’t thank y’all enough for this moment and for all the feelings I feel in my body! I’m bringing home w me everywhere I go y’alll and I ain’t running from s**t no more. Your love lifts me up so high. Thank you!”

When I Get Home is available to stream and buy now, including on Apple Music and Spotify.
