Masters of Style: Celebrating the Stories Behind Italian Fashion at Somerset House, 1 July - 14 August
Following the major exhibition highlighting the work of French designer Christian Dior, Somerset House's latest focus on fashion to Italian style. To celebrate Italy's 150 year anniversary as a unified nation, Peroni Nastro Azzurro have collaborated with six leading Italian Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Ferragamo, Gucci, Missoni and Prada and esteemed fashion commentator Colin McDowell.
Pick of the Summer Festivals: Hop Farm Festival, headsondesks and Port Eliot
There's a few days left to secure last minute tickets to the Hop Farm Festival (including performances from Prince, Morrissey, Iggy and the Stooges, Lou Reed and Patti Smith) and headsondesks. A firm favourite of the AnOther team, the unique event promises to "take you to new places and learn new things". Serge Lutens' Vitriol d'Oeillet on sale from 11 July
This month sees the launch of Serge Lutens' latest fragrance, inspired by the carnation flower. "The essence of carnation doesn't exist", revealed Lutens. "It was therefore necessary to create it by reinforcing the pepper note it has in nature. I did this with cloves and stocks. The sparkle of the fragrance comes from a tiny touch of violet leaves."
New stores: Nike 1948 and Missoni in London, Stone Island in Paris
In 2008, Nike redefined sporting retail when it opened 1948 in a disused east london railway arch. Last week, the space reopened ahead of the 2012 Olympics, having undergone a complete futuristic and technological transformation. As well as stocking Nike footwear and apparel, the space will host installations, screenings and events. Missoni opens their second UK store at 138 New Bond Street tomorrow night. The space will stock a limited edition shoulder bag created to raise money for the Hoping Foundation, which supports Palestinian refugee children. Menswear label Stone Island has recently opened its inaugural Parisian boutique – see stylist Simon Foxton and director Nick Griffiths' celebratory film here.
Summer Gardens
The Museum of Modern Art’s Summergarden concert series returns to The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden for four Sunday evenings beginning July 10, 2011. Summergarden, a tradition since 1971, is part of MoMA’s long history of presenting contemporary classical music and jazz. In London July sees two Emporio Armani Summer Garden Live events, featuring intimate performances from Polydor Music and Island Records in a hidden garden at their New Bond Street store.
Visit Bold Tendencies in Peckham
Located on the top floor floors of a disused multi-storey car park in Peckham, South London, Bold Tendencies is a non-profit summertime sculpture project dedicated to showcasing new art by international artists. AnOther also recommends Franks Cafe & Campari Bar on the roof with spectacular views across the city which reopens this weekend.
The autumn/winter couture shows take place in Paris between 4-7 July.
