Even as lockdowns across the world tentatively begin to lift, and businesses prepare to re-open, there are certain activities which still seem a long way off – among them, summertime festivals, with nearly all of those slated to take place in 2020 cancelled until 2021.

This Saturday, the Palm Heights hotel in Grand Cayman seeks to remedy this with One Day on Earth, a day-long ‘digital festival’ bringing together participants from the worlds of music, art, photography, food, wellness and more. Curated by the hotel’s founder and creative director Gabriella Khalil, chef Gerardo Gonzalez and the musician and cover star of AnOther Magazine S/S20 Kelsey Lu (who will perform a sunset jazz set as part of the festival), all proceeds will be donated to Jose Andres’ non-profit World Central Kitchen, in support of their Covid-19 relief efforts to provide meals to families in need.

Taking place from 6am to 8pm EST, Lu will be joined by the photographer and AnOther Magazine contibutor Tyler Mitchell, who will show a film as part of the programme, queer cooking collective Spiral Theory Test Kitchen, musician Lourdes Leon Ciccone and a raft of other names including Rosie Assoulin, Ghetto GastroOnyx Collective and more.

All you have to do is register for free at Palm Heights’ website to tune into the stream, though viewers are encouraged to purchase raffle tickets (winners will receive a stay in the hotel once it re-opens) or donate via links provided on the day, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to the World Central Kitchen.

One Day on Earth, hosted by Palm Heights, will run from 6am – 8pm EST on May 16, 2020 on palmheights.tv.
