MUBI’s Library Is Open: Here Are the Best Arthouse Films to Stream Now

Suspiria, 1977(Film still)

Curated streaming platform MUBI has introduced its Library, a wide-reaching roster of films now available to watch without a time limit

If you don’t already have a MUBI account, now is the time to join. Not simply because ongoing lockdowns mean more time to watch films, but because the streaming platform has launched its new Library: a vast collection of movies available to watch without the usual 30-day time limit. New films will still launch daily on MUBI, now joining hundreds of other hand-picked titles spanning 20th-century classics, new releases, arthouse gems and cult films, many of which have previously been showcased on the site.

Many of MUBI’s recently talked-about curated selections are available to watch as part of the Library, from the Fondazione Prada’s selection of ‘Perfect Failures’ and Hedi Slimane’s personal curation of movies to For Ever Godard, charting the New Wave auteur’s enduring back catalogue, and a selection of the late Jonas Mekas’ poetic films.

Some of our highlights from the Library include: Dario Argento’s 1977 fever dream horror Suspiria; William Klein’s prickly satire of the fashion industry from 1966, Who Are You, Polly Maggoo?; the latest from French auteur Céline Sciamma, Portrait of a Lady on Fire; the electrifying Ema, which premiered on MUBI earlier this month; Joanna Hogg’s quietly searing autobiographical drama The Souvenir; Yves Saint Laurent: The Last Collections, a once-banned documentary tracing the final working years of the iconic couturier; and Haifaa al-Mansour’s groundbreaking Wadjda, which made her the first Saudi Arabian woman to direct a feature film; plus many more.
