Each month, AnOther's editors give their fashion recommendations for the coming month. August's highlights include an opportunity to visit Jeanne Lanvin's studio, Cindy Sherman's latest campaign, Romain Gavras' debut feature film and the secret to
Make up like Cindy Sherman
Cindy Sherman, the artist who has starred in her conceptual photography series since the late 70s, has been chosen by MAC Cosmetics as their muse for A/W11. It's a clever choice – for decades, Sherman has single-handedly transformed herself into an author, director, make-up artist, hairstylist, wardrobe mistress and fashion model and in 2006 created iconic advertisements with Juergen Teller for Marc Jacobs.
Lanvin Studio Tour
A creative's workspace can provide a fascinating insight into their working process. The late Yves Saint Laurent worked from a trestle table in front of an inspiration wall and Karl Lagerfeld has a breathtaking floor to celling bookshelves. This September, Lanvin are opening the doors of founder Jeanne Lanvin's studio. Located at 22 Faubourg Saint-Honoré, the space was originally designed by Eugène Printz and has since been carefully conserved. Lanvin is currently running a competition, offering two winners a private tour of the space on September 17 and 18.
Our Day Will Come (until August 18)
Produced and starring Vincent Cassel, Our Day Will Come is controversial director Romain Gavras' debut feature film, which he describes as a "romantic comedy". However it is far from what we have come to expect from the traditional genre. Dark, surreal and emotionally charged, the film takes its audience on an energetic journey of violence, passion, sexual ambiguity and humour. Highly recommended by the AnOther team.
Beauty tip: Rosy cheeks
There are countless blushers on the market – from traditional powders to sheer and cream formulas. But nothing beats Benefit's Benetint, a rose-tinted cheek stain. Three dots on the apples of your cheeks are required for an innocent yet provocative glow.
Jake or Dinos Chapman, White Cube (until September 17)
The British art duo have been creating subversive and provocative artworks as a pair since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 1990. For the first time in over a decade the White Cube presents the work of Jake and Dinos separately. Spanning both gallery sites the work remains uncredited allowing the viewer to question Jake or Dinos? Expect the best of the pair’s trademark iconoclasm, black humour and wit.

Fred Perry x Sir Peter Blake
What do you get when you combine a British heritage label with the ‘godfather of pop art’? A series of three stylish, limited edition T-shirts that are both graphically playful and quintessentially 60s Brit pop. All made and printed in England in a numbered run of 1000 this is the latest of Fred Perry’s Blank Canvas project collaborations with Sir Peter Blake. This pairing also represents a welcome return to the brand for Blake whose award-winning 1961 painting: Self Portrait with badges shows the artist wearing a 60s red Fred Perry shirt, layered under a traditional workman’s jacket scattered with badges.
