To celebrate Halloween, the streaming service is offering AnOther readers a free month-long subscription, including access to some of the most unsettling horror films of the last decade

It’s October. The days are getting darker, there’s a chill in the air, and Halloween is lurking menacingly on the horizon. To celebrate this most mystical time of year, AnOther readers are being offered a suitably spooky gift: an exclusive 30 days of free cinema with MUBI, including access to some of the most unsettling horror films of the last decade.

For a limited time, readers can sign up for free access to the film streaming service using a special link. After doing so, they will be given over a month to enjoy MUBI’s meticulously curated selection of global cinema – updated daily, and backed up in an extensive online archive.

The news coincides with the announcement of the site’s latest season, The New Coven: A Female Horror Renaissance. The programme will celebrate the most “innovative and creative” female-led horror films of the last decade, with work from directors like Jennifer Kent (The Babadook), Prano Bailey-Bond (Censor), Alice Lowe (Prevenge), and Anna Biller (The Love Witch). According to MUBI, the films were chosen because they help to “reclaim female agency, both in front of and behind the camera”, while privileging a “woman’s perspective on everything from gender roles and sexuality, to motherhood and identity, all within a historically male-dominated genre context.”

MUBI will also be holding a Halloween Watch Party on Sunday 31 October, with a live watch-along of Censor on the official MUBI Twitter. There will also be an Instagram live with Censor director Prano Bailey-Bond, who will discuss the film industry and the contemporary nature of British, female-directed horror. There will also be a variety of social media giveaways throughout the day, with opportunities to win signed posters, sweet treats, temporary tattoo kits and zines.

Sign up to your free 30 days of MUBI at mubi.com/anothermagazine.

The Halloween Watch Party will begin at 3pm with prize giveaways across MUBI’s social media channels. The Instagram Live with Prano Bailey-Bond will begin at 6pm, with the Censor watch-along beginning at 7pm.
