Dover Street Market MARKET, May 11-13
This month sees the return of Dover Street Market MARKET in London – a pop-up sale of Comme des Garçons and DSM brand archive pieces, with discounts of 70% to 75%. Market MARKET will take place at Victoria House, Bloomsbury Square, WC1B 4DA between 10-7pm with daily deliveries.

From today, the world’s largest online premier marketplace 1stdibs will be exclusively selling a collection of Elsa Schiaparelli’s jewellery and fashion pieces for a limited time only. Arguably one of the world’s most influential fashion designers and also currently the focus of the Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibition: Schiaparelli & Prada, for sale items include an innovative Telephone Compact with original mirror and power puff (a collaboration with Salavdor Dali) and a pair of Ostrich Clips from the circus collection design by Jean Schlumberger for Schiaparelli.
Leather Forever Hermès Exhibition, May 8-27
The most iconic leather brand in the world is set to fling open its doors in an extraordinary exhibition opening this month. Snow White at Sadler's Wells, May 10-12
Celebrated French choreographer Angelin Preljocaj returns to Sadler’s Wells with his award-winning adaption of the Brothers Grimm fairytale, Snow White. Performed by the company of 25 dancers, this contemporary ballet is set to extracts from Gustav Mahler’s symphonies and showcases costumes designed by Jean Paul Gaultier.
Manifold Editions Debut Exhibition, Front Room, May 10-27
The exciting new online art gallery Manifold Editions are holding their first physical presentation of work at Front Room at St Martins Lane Hotel. Showcasing the breadth of the Manifold Editions’ stable, featured artists will include the likes of Damien Hirst, Gary Hume, Elizabeth Magill and 2011 Turner Prize nominee George Shaw. A show highlight is the opportunity to purchase limited edition prints, with four from Marc Quinn that include Under the Volcano, an acid coloured orchid, and a silk screen version of Sphinx, his extraordinary sculpture of Kate Moss.
Chanel & Film, May 19-20
Fashion and cinema collide in the latest offering from the Victoria and Albert Museum and Ciné Lumière: Chanel & Film. On Saturday 19 the V&A is hosting a three-part seminar exploring the close relationship between the work of fashion designer Coco Chanel and film, with fashion journalist and author of Coco Chanel: The Legend and the Life and Chanel: Her Life Justine Picardie, and Professor of film studies Ginette Vincendeau. Ciné Lumière will host two screenings on the Sunday, one entitled The Lovers/ Les Amants and the other Tonight or Never which feature many of Coco Chanel’s creations.
Dior Homme Pop-Up Store, New York, until September 2012
New York has been deprived of a Dior Homme store since the flagship closed for renovation and expansion, but now the gap is at last being filled. Until the new store opens in the autumn, a pop-up boutique in SoHo shall serve those on the quest for Kris Van Assche’s refined and elegant designs, overlooked by an artwork by post-situationist artist Rob Montgomery. Entitled Whenever We See the Sun, the work was chosen by Van Assche as the perfect representation of the structural and masculine Dior Homme aesthetic.

Providing a lasting document of celebrated artist Cindy Sherman, director of SAMMLUNG VERBUND Gabriele Schor, who has previously performed a scholarly assessment of the conceptual beginnings of her oeuvre, is now publishing a catalogue raisonné of her early work entitled Cindy Sherman: The Early Works, 1975-1997, published by Hatje Cantz.
