The AnOther editors pick the ten best things to see and do this February
1. Christie's 90s to Now – February 6-20
The second edition of Christie's online auction celebrating contemporary art created since the 90s will include works by AnOther favourites John Baldesseri, Linder Sterling and Doug Aitken. Prices start at £500.
2. Bailey’s Stardust – February 6 - June 1
The largest exhibition of portraits by David Bailey goes on show at The National Portrait Gallery next week, including iconic images of The Rolling Stones, Jean Shrimpton and The Beatles.
3. The Book of Hearts by Francesca Gavin
Appropriately timed for Valentine's Day, AnOther contributor Francesca Gavin presents The Book of Hearts, her enticing tome considering the heart, as a symbol and signifier, across a variety of times and cultures.
4. JR & NYC Ballet – until March 2
Celebrated guerrilla artist JR has teamed up with the NYC ballet to create a stunningly enormous installation, which will be on display throughout the company's winter season.
5. George Condo – February 11 - March 22
Profoundly influential American artist George Condo will exhibit a new series of portraiture at Simon Lee Gallery this month, his first London-based solo exhibition in three years. To coincide with the show, a series of Condo's ink drawings will also be on display at Skarstedt London until April 5.
6. Beck: Morning Phase – February 24
A firm AnOther favourite, Beck is back with his new album, Morning Phase, which he has described as "a companion piece of sorts" to 2002's critically acclaimed Sea Change.
7. Hockney, Printmaker – February 5 - May 11
To coincide with the 60th anniversary of his first print, an upcoming show at Dulwich Picture Gallery will shed light on David Hockney's highly skilled and often overlooked work as a printmaker. Over 100 works will be on display – with a strong focus on etchings and lithographs – in what promises to be an instructive and entertaining overview of the artist’s career.
8. Pre-Raphaelite Cats – from February 6
Artist and cat-lover Susan Herbert has made a name for herself creating hilarious feline versions of famous paintings. For her new book she's turned her hand to the works of the Pre-Raphaelite painters, re-rendering classics, from the likes of Holman Hunt and John Everett Millais, to purr-fection.
9. Louise Bourgeois – until February 23
Don't miss your chance to catch Edinburgh's Fruitmarket Gallery's brilliant celebration of Louise Bourgeois' deeply intimate yet universal works on paper – encompassing both drawing and writing, and featuring her amazing set of Insomnia Drawings, created in a suspended state between waking and sleeping.
10. AnOther Magazine S/S14 – on sale 13 February
The S/S14 issue of AnOther Magazine hits the shelves worldwide on Thursday 13th. A few exclusive early bird issues will be available at Dover Street Market London.
