Photographer Luke Stephenson, the man behind last year's beautiful photobook An Incomplete Dictionary of Show Birds, is back with a new project that has got us feeling delightfully summery. Titled 99x99s, the venture saw Stephenson swap home comforts for a camper van and set off on a voyage around the UK – beginning in Southampton and working his way up the east coast to Scotland and back down the west coast to his starting point via Wales and Corwall. Along the way he made it his mission to buy a 99 flake in 99 different destinations, photographing them as he went. He only made one rule, that he would ask for a 99 and if the vendor enquired if he wanted extras (sauces, sprinkles etc.), he had to say yes. 25 days, 3,500 miles and 24,000 calories later, Stephenson's journey was complete, the results, a wonderful series of images depicting the 99 ice cream vendors and the 99 99 flakes, all subtly different and delectably depicted. A joyful celebration of British summer and the nation's favourite ice creams, we hope these make your Monday a very happy one.
Happy Monday! #anotherhappymonday
