“It is about an eccentric way of dressing, a very British way of dressing, gathering treasures, taking cherished pieces of clothing and jewellery from a family wardrobe apart and putting them together again in an idiosyncratic way – deconstructing heirlooms and altering the context. We went to the gardens of Great Dixter and to Kew. We were thinking not necessarily about the future of nature but the potential of nature, of its healing powers. The silhouette is more overblown than it has been, it’s very feminine, but the person wearing it is definitely a woman, not a girl. And it’s almost as if that woman herself becomes an exploded flower: at one with nature, warmed in sunlight, drenched in rain.” – Sarah Burton
