The collections of Spring/Summer 2018 may well have provided the most surprising test to our natural inclination towards an all-black ensemble yet: the undeniable energy boost of acid brights. From nuclear-powered green and orange to the most potent iterations of magenta, turquoise and fuchsia, the season’s designers recalled at once Balearic dance floors of the 1990s and the artificial Day-Glo-hued sportswear of the decade before.
Here, captured by Chris Rhodes and Chloe Grace Press for AnOther Magazine S/S18, the most enlivening pieces of the season – from Miu Miu’s intarsia tube socks, in shocking yellow, to a highlighter pink gown by Stella McCartney that is far from saccharine.
“I sometimes go to stores and feel like there is so much stuff that doesn’t work together. I feel like it needs colour” – Demna Gvasalia, Balenciaga
“For me the most important thing is dressing people, not camouflaging them. I create fashion; the style comes from those who wear it” – Giorgio Armani
