Following the meteoric success of Prada’s Minimal-Baroque sunglasses that adorned their spring/summer 2011 Jazz Age catwalk models, today the Italian fashion house is launching two new frames as part of the range. With rococo curls, bold curves, friezes and bas-relief effects Prada’s Minimal-Baroque sunglasses have dominated eyes since their release in February. Now with the two additional styles in nine new colour ways, the success of these exuberant frames is sure to continue.
To coincide with the launch, Miuccia Prada – a purveyor of new and fresh talent – has commissioned eight artists from the world of photography to interpret the new Minimal-Baroque glasses in a pop-comic manner. As the first phase saw three illustrators interpret the sunglasses through drawings, this second phase sees Federica Di Giovanni, Kuba Dabrowski, Ciraudo Majola, Mattia Buffoli, Rosi di Stefano, Tassili Calatroni, Tatiana Uzlova and Tomás Nogueira translate them through pictures – with the project aptly entitled From Drawings to Pictures.
The eight photographer's pictures will be presented together in Prada stores in London, Paris, Milan, New York, Hong Kong and Istanbul from today. Ranging from staged shots of different chromatic palettes to more playful and spontaneous settings, this series of still life images perfectly captures the energy and vibrancy of Minimal-Baroque.
