A shopping list fit for the fiery change in this month’s cosmic energy

Yesterday, the sun began its annual journey through Aries, the first astrological sign of the Zodiac. Those who are born under the fiery sign are leaders by nature – as symbolised by the mythological figure of the ram – and are dynamic and competitive in equal measure (and favour the colour red). “Aries season serves as a second new year, since it’s the beginning of the yearly zodiac cycle,” astrologer Alice Bell tells AnOther. “Aries will give you your motivation back and you’ll feel re-energised and ready to start new projects. It’s a very positive energy, so you’ll start to feel more optimistic about the future too.” With this in mind, we present a shopping list fit for Aries season – whether it’s your own star sign or you are simply out to harness the change in cosmic energy.

1. Prada makes a good match for Ariens’ sartorial eccentricity – this bright red (itself a lucky hue for those born under the sign) double-breasted coat will see you through the last cold days of the season.

2. Ariens favour boldness, and there’s no reason this shouldn’t extend to your beauty look – a defined lip is the best place to start. Named after women who have inspired Marc Jacobs over the years (in this case, American singer Miley Cyrus), Le Marc Lip Crème is hydrating and infused with seaberry and cocoa butter, its strong formula promising to last up to ten hours.

3. Coco Capitán’s monograph Busy Living, published by Loose Joints, accompanies the photographer’s first European exhibition, which runs until May 29 at Paris’ Maison Européenne de la Photographie. Spanning the Spanish artist’s last six years of image-making, Busy Living explores her unique interpretation of the world through photography, writing and painting.

4. Ariens have an innate love of adventure which will rarely see them sitting still for long. Prada’s Vela studded nylon bag will provide the perfect travel companion, whether exploring close to home or overseas.

5. As the first astrological sign of the yearly zodiac cycle, Ariens often feel the need to channel their energy into sports and outdoor activities. A Resort 2019 all-black version of its runner style, now reimagined with laser-cut leather panels and reflective detailing, Balenciaga’s chunky Track trainers should be their footwear of choice – equally as covetable for those who plan on not moving at all.

6. Ariens’ easily changeable nature will see them need a multitude of accessoires to match their mood: this Marni necklace, which is crafted of three braided plexiglass tubes coloured in a red to clear degradé, is the perfect statement. (Wear solo, or pair with matching Marni’s perspex hoop earrings.)

7. Leave it to Alyx’s Matthew Williams to design the most covetable of sportswear, here in collaboration with Nike. Gift this technical training top to an Arien, or buy for yourself to reinvigorate post-New Year gym intentions.

8. Indulge your inner Ariens’ magpie-like tendencies with these Jacquemus drop earrings, a red version of a pair presented as part of the house’s S/S19 offering, made of cascading square-cut crystals in shades of red and pink.
