JWA-TV is a tongue-in-cheek take on teleshopping, starring performance artist Mx Justin Vivian Bond as its host
Today, JW Anderson officially announces the launch of a (spoof) teleshopping channel. Riffing on the likes of QVC and Ideal World, JWA-TV sees co-hosts Sandie Stone (played by Tony-nominated cabaret performer and performance artist Mx Justin Vivian Bond) and Joyce Nawman (Jill Pangolla, an NYC-based multidisciplinary performer), singing the praises of the British brand’s latest S/S19 accessory: the Keyts bag. “I have always been an enormous fan of Viv [Justin Vivian Bond]. I remember working on some of my first collections and listening to her albums on repeat,” commented Jonathan Anderson. “I ran into her in San Francisco not too long ago and I thought, we have to do something with her.”
Involving a product demonstration with a tin of sardines, and tips on how to wear two different styles of the Keyts – either “high and tight” or “low and loose” – the film is an “irreverent, intelligent and just the right amount of ‘off’ but delivered in the most elegant way,” say the accompanying notes. Two other instalments of the JWA-TV film-series are on the imminent horizon, focussing on the Anchor Logo and Bike bags respectively, and will be rolled out over JW Anderson’s social media channels, and on the brand’s website. Remote controls and credit cards at the ready.
