Spring/Summer 2019 provided clothing for the elements: whether Craig Green’s weather-proof ripstop outerwear at Moncler, or Kiko Kostadinov’s paintbox-coloured parachute nylon dresses, evocative of 1980s tracksuits, a tough, sporty mood prevailed.
Not least in the accessories: at Prada – always a barometer of the season – sandals came in a tech-y woven knit, like sports socks; at Dior, nude elastic-edged sandals evoked a dancer’s uniform; while hardy lace-up sneakers at Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood (a collaboration with Asics) were decorated with Westwood’s exuberant ‘Pirate’ print. Or, at DSquared2, a sky-high hiking sandal-come-stiletto hybrid – glamour at its most resilient.
Here, 12 pieces that lean into the season’s preoccupation with extreme sports – from outerwear to accessories – captured for the pages of AnOther Magazine S/S19 by Chris Rhodes and Chloe Grace Press.
