Sunshine, beaches, swimwear, sunglasses and ice lollies are all things that come synonymous with summer, and whilst most of us will be stuck indoors working it appears that the only taste of the season that we will be getting is in the form of the latter, the Most Loved item of the week as chosen by AnOther Contributor Tish Wrigley. The ice lolly, or popsicle if you’re American, is a frozen water-based dessert simply made by freezing coloured, flavoured liquid around a stick. With the first recorded ice lollipop created in 1905 by 11-year-old Frank Epperson of San Francisco, who left a glass of soda water powder and water outside in his back porch with a wooden mixing stick in it over night, over a century later it remains one of the most popular after meal treats or snacks, perfect for its cooling effect in hot weather. Whilst numerous food brands offer their versions of ice lollies – namely Callipo, Fab, Mini Milk and Rowntree’s Fruit Pastilles – nothing is more satisfying than creating your own ice lolly as with the Most Loved item which contains a frozen mix of kiwi, strawberry, mango and blueberries. Here, we ask Wrigley what her dream ice lolly would be and what her favourite dessert is.

Why did you choose to Love it?
My feet were sodden, and all I could hear at that moment was rain pummelling the roof, so it seemed gloriously inappropriate.

If you could make an ice lolly out of anything what would your dream ingredients be?
Green wine gums and Savanna cider. Perhaps not together.

Which is your favourite ice cream or ice lolly and why?
The Schweppes Lemonade ice lolly – refreshing and thirst quenching like no other. My sister and I discovered them on holiday in Australia years ago, but I've never been able to track them down since.

Do you have a favourite dessert?
Mr Kipling Bakewell tarts – a family favourite. We made a wobbly tower of them for my dad's 55th birthday cake, and I ate almost every one.

What is your homemade dessert speciality?
I've recently mastered chocolate meringues – they look so beautiful and are remarkably easy.

What was the last thing you bought?
I am obsessed with orange in all its forms at the moment – the most recent acquisition was a pair of tangerine plimsolls which clash with everything else I own.

What is your favourite online shop?
Labour and Wait is really good for kitchenware, Exhibition A for prints and if I'm feeling masochistic I head to Browns, and dream of Mary Katrantzou dresses.
