The British Fashion Council has unveiled its 2020 New Wave: Creatives list, which celebrates 50 emerging talents from around the world. This year, when calls for industry-wide change have been louder and more urgent than ever – from sustainability, to equality and diversity – this list spotlights the next generation of creatives who are shaping the future of fashion.

The 2020 New Wave: Creatives list features a slew of trailblazing talents from an array of creative disciplines, from activists and artists, to photographers and stylists, hair and make-up artists, set designers, and more. Among those featured are photographers Amber Pinkerton, Rafael Pavarotti, Quil Lemons, Stephen Tayo, Luis Alberto Rodriguez, Carlijn Jacobs, Gabriel Moses, and Elizaveta Porodina; stylists Betsy Johnson, Flora Huddart and Marie Higuchi; and hair and make-up artists Kiyoko Odo, Cécile Paravina, Issac Poleon, and Valentina Li

This year’s New Wave recipients were chosen by last year’s winners, with the final 50 selected by the BFC’s newly-assembled Steering Committee – a group comprising some of the industry’s most widely respected voices, including AnOther’s senior fashion editor-at-large Nell Kalonji, stylist Carlos Nazario, make-up artist Isamaya Ffrench, designer Charles Jeffrey, among others. The final 50 creatives on the list will celebrated on Thursday (December 3) as part of The Fashion Awards film, which highlights the “people and organisations who have led change in the fashion industry in 2020”.
