In the second instalment of our new series, Hermès, Dior, Louis Vuitton and more feature
AnOther Magazine Spring/Summer 2021 was revealed last week, a celebration of fashion that marks our 20th anniversary. The special issue is an ode to both the designers and creative teams whose work we’ve showcased since 2001, and exciting new collaborators we are only just discovering. To mark the launch, 40 Days of Fashion is a new series highlighting collections, campaigns, products and stories from within AnOther Magazine S/S21’s pages. Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Dior and more feature in 40 Days of Fashion’s second instalment.
Dior
Acclaimed Israeli dancer and choreographer Sharon Eyal is the first guest on Dior Talks’ latest podcast, Feminism. Eyal – who has collaborated with Maria Grazia Chiuri three times since 2018, most recently for Autumn/Winter 2021; the two women share an enlightening conversation on passion, people and unfiltered physicality in AnOther Magazine S/S21 – speaks to Justine Picardie for Feminism’s first episode, and the series overall highlights some of the female creatives who have most inspired Chiuri throughout her tenure as Dior’s artistic director of womenswear.
Louis Vuitton
Former Another Man cover star 21 Savage fronts the latest LV men’s capsule collection campaign from Louis Vuitton. The campaign imagery covers a day spent in the rugged landscapes of Venice Beach, with the collection photographed at dawn, midday and dusk, making for an atmospheric series of images. Virgil Abloh’s collection is full of colour – a new LV monogram print recalls swathes of watercolour paints running across garments – and “joyful nostalgia”, and the campaign nods to California’s idiosyncratic creatives.
Hermès
Hermès’ sprawling showcase for A/W21 stretched across three cities, a virtual presentation that began in New York, followed by a show in Paris and ending in Shanghai. The Parisian runway show was held at the Garde républicaine and bookended by dance performances in New York and Shanghai – the former choreographed by Madeline Hollander and the latter by Gu Jiani – each inspired by the movements found in Nadège Vanhée-Cybulski’s collection. The impressive “utopian project” was documented by acclaimed filmmaker Sébastien Lifshitz.
Sportmax
For the fifth edition of Sportmax’s Denim Culture capsule collection – a collaborative endeavour introduced to celebrate denim – the brand has teamed up with renowned Italian photographer Franco Fontana. A selection of Fontana’s rich colour photographs appear throughout the collection, printed on garments to form beautiful new graphic patterns. Fontana also photographs the campaign, shooting the collection amid bold urban landscapes that echo the striking and playful pieces.
PT Torino
Captured amid a landscape of clear blue skies and bougainvillea, PT Torino’s Spring/Summer 2021 men’s and women’s collections are showcased in sun-drenched images and a film from the Italian brand. While the women’s pieces draw inspiration from a Mediterranean colour palette – warm shades of orange, pink, red – the men’s collection looks to the vivacious island of Cuba, which inspires exciting new patterns, textures and colours for PT Torino.
Marsèll
AnOther Magazine S/S21 cover star Eliot Sumner is the face of Marsèll’s new campaign, entitled Persona. “As a muse, they are the essence of a natural beauty that goes beyond the limits of gender,” says Marsèll of Sumner. An intimate and personal collaboration, Sumner and photographer Federico Radaelli were given free reign for the campaign’s imagery, which celebrates Marsèll’s 20th anniversary; the resulting photographs, shot in bucolic Wiltshire, are an ode to the Italian brand’s timeless designs.
TELA
TELA’s Spring/Summer 2021 collection film showcases the brand’s signature relaxed tailoring, with lightweight separates, dresses and playful crochet accessories ushering in a definite spring mood. TELA describes this season’s collection as “a dialogue between different worlds that blend into one”, rooted in the clean minimalism, timeless silhouettes and modern tailoring which make TELA pieces so covetable.
