Miu Miu, Loewe, Fendi and Vivienne Westwood feature in our fourth 40 Days of Fashion instalment
AnOther Magazine Spring/Summer 2021 is a celebration of fashion that marks our 20th anniversary. The special issue is an ode to both the designers and creative teams whose work we’ve showcased since 2001, and exciting new collaborators we are only just discovering. To mark the launch, 40 Days of Fashion is a new series highlighting collections, campaigns, products and stories from within AnOther Magazine S/S21’s pages. Miu Miu, Fendi, Vivienne Westwood and more feature in 40 Days of Fashion’s fourth instalment.
Givenchy
Photographer Heji Shin and stylist Lotta Volkova came together to shoot the first Givenchy campaign under new creative director Matthew Williams, for Spring/Summer 2021. The campaign stars a host of recognisable faces: Playboy Carti, Kendall Jenner, Anok Yai, Bella Hadid and Liam Powers, all captured in Shin’s soft-focus style wearing Williams’ designs. Chic leather accessories with padlock-esque hardware, darkly elegant tailoring and unexpected textures take centre stage in the captivating images.
Loewe Paula’s Ibiza 2021
Loewe once again transports us to warmer climes via its latest Paula’s Ibiza capsule collection, offering a welcome dose of escapism as spring nears. “Letting go is, after all, a way of being, and the beach is both a place and an attitude, I believe,” says creative director Jonathan Anderson. Highlights of the 2021 collection include the Paula’s Ibiza Eau de Toilette (“unisex, tropical and irreverent”) and baskets woven by craftswomen from an artisanal collective in Colombia. Gray Sorrenti photographs the joyful collection in sun-drenched Mexico City for the accompanying campaign.
Browns Brook Street
Storied London boutique Browns has opened the doors of its anticipated new flagship store on Brook Street. Set over four floors in a historic Mayfair building – complete with a chic sustainable restaurant from the team behind ‘Native’, and The Parlour, where creatives like nail and tattoo artists will host short ‘residencies’ – Browns Brook Street is a sensorial experience which celebrates the joy of in-store shopping. A must-visit for fans of Browns’ signature mix of emerging and established names.
Moncler Genius Craig Green
“The collection revolves around the idea of contrasts: transparent/opaque, quilted/plain, matt/shiny, water/land,” says Moncler of its latest Genius collection by British designer Craig Green. For the new collection, Green considered how our relationship with the outdoors has changed dramatically over the past year; how interacting with nature became reinvigorating during a time of stasis. Technical fabrics and silhouettes signal the arrival of spring, and an atmospheric campaign photographed by longtime Craig Green collaborator Dan Tobin Smith depicts Moncler Craig Green-branded water rafts.
Vivienne Westwood
“Buy less, dress up, swap clothes. It is always street theatre,” says Vivienne Westwood – who recently celebrated her 80th birthday – in a statement released with her eponymous brand’s Spring/Summer 2021 collection. Alice Dellal photographs the collection on a cast of artists, models, musicians and activists, including Isamaya Ffrench, Georgia Palmer, Kai Isaiah-Jamal, Brian Nasty and Ursula Holliday. The punk-infused collection features special prints created in collaboration with Chrissie Hynde and Anthony Newton.
Dsquared2
A satisfying mix of materials and colours makes Dsquared2’s Bubble Sneaker one of Spring/Summer 2021’s most covetable shoes. The trainer’s signature bubble, crafted from transparent PVC, is part of a lightweight sole and available in a range of vibrant shades – “they play with punk themes with colour variations and a cool, young attitude” says the Italian brand.
Fendi
Following Kim Jones’ acclaimed debut at Fendi for Spring/Summer 2021 haute couture, the house is launching a limited-edition capsule collection, available to shop for just two weeks from April 15. The capsule collection similarly looks to the seminal work of the Bloomsbury set, Virginia Woolf – particularly her boundary-breaking novel Orlando – and Charleston, and capitalises on the “fluid androgyny and exquisite romance” of Jones’ haute couture. “A contemporary homage to British creativity and Italian glamour,” says Fendi.
Miu Miu
Former AnOther cover star Kelsey Lu stars in Miu Miu’s Spring/Summer 2021 campaign, alongside The Crown actor Emma Corrin and Canadian artist Allison Katz. The series of photographs, entitled Mind Mapping and set within a sparse-yet-chic home, showcases the Italian brand’s playfully sporty S/S21 collection. “This Miu Miu collection is about polarity – these are polar times. Everything is opposite. Sportswear and evening wear, a moment of reality, a moment of fantasy. In life, you need both,” said Miuccia Prada of the collection.
