“I was really excited about a magazine that takes six months to make, being concentrated into films that last no more than a matter of seconds,” says Katie Shillingford, fashion director (womenswear) of AnOther Magazine. “That can of course be done in many ways. To begin with, when Jacob talked about using GoPro cameras, it led us to the idea of recording fashion as if it were an action sport, where either the model was somehow wearing the camera or the camera was fixed to her in some way or moving alongside … That felt like the perfect way to combine our worlds.”
“Some people might think AnOther launching on TikTok doesn’t make sense – the platform is fast and AnOther is quite measured,” says Ahmad Swaid, head of content. “That tension worked in our favor and we decided to take the cinematic experience of AnOther Magazine’s fashion stories into TikTok’s playground, and also find a way that didn’t have to necessarily rely on collaborating with TikTok influencers. That’s not to say it’s not something we wouldn’t do in the future, but thinking about what the future of fashion stories look like, I’d like to think we’ve come close.”
And it’s not just fashion: follow us and you’ll be treated to a daily dose of art, design, photography, film, architecture, interior design, and more – all aimed to inform and inspire.
