Watch AZ Factory’s tribute to the late, great designer – live from Paris Fashion Week
Tonight, at the close of Paris Fashion Week – the first physical edition in almost 18 months – there will be a tribute show in honour of the late, great and much beloved Alber Elbaz.
The esteemed designer, who helmed Lanvin for some 14 years, died last year after contracting Covid-19. His death was met with an outpouring of grief from across the industry, with people citing his empathy and generosity, as well as his love for women, which lay at the very core of his approach to fashion.
“We designers, we started as couturiers, asking: ‘What do women want? What do women need? What can I do for a woman to make her life better and easier? How can I make a woman more beautiful?’” he said in 2015.
After leaving Lanvin that year, Elbaz had a brief hiatus from fashion before returning to the industry in 2021 with his label AZ Factory, which also had these ideas in mind – specifically in terms of size inclusivity (the brand promised “beautiful, practical, and solutions-driven” designs that work “for everyone”).
Tonight’s AZ Factory show will pay tribute to Elbaz and his extraordinary legacy, which undoubtedly lives on.
