For our Spring/Summer 2022 issue, we ventured out into the scorching Californian desert to capture history-making actor Jodie Turner-Smith, alongside a cast of characters, in Alessandro Michele’s standout Love Parade collection for Gucci.
A celebration of 100 years of the Italian house, and the many forms of fantasy that have become ubiquitous with Hollywood, old and new, the collection was first unveiled with a parade down Hollywood Boulevard last November. The staggering show, which featured a huge cast of models and stars, including Miranda July, Macaulay Culkin, Phoebe Bridgers, and AnOther cover star Turner-Smith, was described by many as a memorable highlight of the fashion calendar last year. “Hollywood seemed a bright and shiny star,” Michele said of the event at the time, “those nine letters dripping with desire.”
Jackie Nickerson and Katie Shillingford captured the dazzling collection over the course of one day, from dawn to dusk, in the expansive desert which borders Los Angeles. Here, in an exclusive short film, see their story leap into motion in shimmering, sun-soaked footage of the day.
