From the niche new beauty brands doing something different to the industry’s evergreen icons, Tish Weinstock opens up AnOther’s dream vanity, starting with the summery scents of the Balearic islands
- Who should use it? Anyone with an escapist state of mind
- How long until I love it? With top notes of black pepper and Madagascan mandarin, it’s an instant rush of endorphins
- How planet/people-friendly is it? Packaged in a beautiful glass bottle and cylindrical box packaging, this is a pretty friendly fragrance
- How do I use it? Anywhere you want to be touched, kissed and smelt
Channeling the hedonistic spirit of the Balearic islands, Loewe Paula’s Ibiza Eclectic is the only fragrance you need to know about this summer. The latest olfactory expression from Loewe and the second iteration from the Paula’s Ibiza capsule collection, Eclectic is all about freedom from societal norms, letting go of rigid constraints and embracing an escapist state of mind.
Created by Jonathan Anderson, alongside the house’s perfumer Núria Cruelles, the scent is for all genders, with its intoxicating blend of woody, floral and gourmand notes. Top notes of black pepper and Madasgasacan mandarin provide an instant rush of endorphins, while night-blooming (this is Ibiza, after all) jasmine, ylang-ylang, coconut and orange blossom course through its middle, revealing a baseline drop of vanilla, sandalwood and musk at its heart. It’s the kind of multi-sensory experience one might expect from the island that brought us Balearic beats.
Taking its visual cues from the original Paula’s Ibiza archives, the iconic cultural hub founded in the 1970s by Armin Heinemann and Stuart Rudnick, the scent comes in a beautiful glass bottle, with a colour gradient passing from deep purple through to blue, turquoise, and acid house green, topped off with a riotous neon orange cap – good enough for any bathroom shelfie. So, if you’re looking for a party this summer, make sure Eclectic is your first stop.
