Not long after H&M opened its doors on November 17 to its highly anticipated A/W11 collection collaboration with Versace, the question on many lips was: who will be next? After nine successful designer collaborations that have included Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Viktor & Rolf, Comme des Garçons and most recently Lanvin, H&M’s latest partnership is set to be their most successful yet. However, as the entire Versace for H&M men’s and women’s collection sold out in a mere 24-hours rumours rapidly spread that Tom Ford would be next in line to team up with the world’s second-largest clothing retailer. “[Ford is] a very interesting name,” H&M’s creative adviser Margareta van den Bosch replied when asked about the possibility of collaborating with the iconic designer last week.

From the man who embraces sex with a full-on thrust we can only wonder, if the rumours are indeed true, what he’ll have in store for H&M…

Credited with the legendary turnaround of Gucci in the 1990s, Texan designer Tom Ford is renowned for his glamorous and sexually charged designs, which have carried him through roles as creative director at Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and now Tom Ford. A definite provocateur, his campaign back catalogue includes a red-haired Sophie Dahl completely naked wearing only a necklace and stilettos and lying in a sexually suggestive pose (YSL’s Opium fragrance), martial arts champion Samuel de Cubber in complete full-frontal nudity (YSL M7 fragrance), nude couples splashing bottles of fragrance over one other in various poses which include sex positions (Tom Ford’s Neroli Portofino fragrance), and a male model pulling down model Louise Pedersen’s knickers to reveal a “G” shaved into her pubic hair (Gucci 2002). From the man who embraces sex with a full-on thrust (and has also received the most complaints in the Advertising Standards Authority’s history), we can only wonder, if the rumours are indeed true, what he’ll have in store for H&M…
