“Fashion works when there’s a contradiction, when there is a tension between the ingredients – on the one hand streetwear and on the other, bold prints, for instance. When I started creating perfumes, they needed to tell the same story. We wanted that kind of clash. I invited the noses into my garden and asked them to take risks, combining ingredients that normally don’t belong together, with an open mind. There has to be curiosity. The perfumes require a bit of learning – the more you smell them, the more you understand them. I want a perfume to envelop you.” – Dries Van Noten
