It’s the start of a new year, and while we’re all bundled in blankets with a brew, Loewe’s creative director Jonathan Anderson is throwing open the doors and stepping out into the wintery wild. Captured by David Sims, the Spanish label’s new Spring/Summer 2025 campaign sees its ambassadors take to the lush Catalonian countryside – the geographical roots of the brand – to explore “the relationship between body and landscape, gesture and nature”.

This year marks Anderson’s tenth at Loewe, and his talent for capturing the zeitgeist is naturally evolving into shaping it. He costumed Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey in neutral, easy-breezy tailoring for Luca Guadagnino’s adaption of William S Burroughs’ autobiographical novella Queer, and earlier in the summer, itty bitty short shorts and “I Told Ya” T-shirts took over with the release of Challengers, in turn making Anderson the unofficial outfitter of Guadagnino’s brightest stars.

For the latest campaign, Loewe has tapped Queer actor and bonafide heartthrob Drew Starkey, the actress Taylor Russell, who appeared alongside Timothée Chalamet in Guadagnino’s cannibal thriller Bones and All, and the actor, singer and racer Wang Yibo. Exploring and reclining in the verdant Spanish hills amid the fresh air, Loewe’s ambassadors become one with the natural beauty of the area, wearing the brand’s floaty florals, feathers, tougher earthy leathers and flawlessly draped trousers, echoing the brand’s recent direction towards reduction, with a pragmatic, razor focus. Distilling the fantasies of a windswept romance in its tensions between the dynamic and static, it’s a luscious message of freedom, which hones in on Loewe’s naturalistic ancestry.
