Launching exclusively on AnOther today, Yves Saint Laurent's S/S12 film campaign stars the striking Italian-born model Mariacarla Boscono.
Shot by David Sims at London's Spring Studios, the short is a stark contrast to last season's campaign (shot in a Manhattan high-rise), with Boscono working a series of elegant poses, to Aquarius Heaven's pulsating Universe soundtrack. A colour background, based on the palette of Stefano Pilati's collection, highlights the sharp tailoring and fluid seperates, including that memorable floor-skimming habutai printed skirt.

One of the most powerful elements of the campaign is arguably Boscono's hair and make-up courtesy of Guido Palou and Diane Kendal, respectively. Whereas models in the S/S12 show sported slicked back hair held tight by a half-moon of Barbary gold, bleached brows and bright red lips, Boscono's hair has been chopped into a blunt, short-fringed bob, and the make-up look focused on her porcelain skin, beauty spot and exaggerated thin brows.
