Kylie Minogue was the centrefold star for AnOther Magazine A/W06, encased in silken folds of Miu Miu and shot by Katerina Jebb
Miuccia Prada has always had a soft spot for Miu Miu. It is, after all, a sweet diminutive of her own first name. Kylie Minogue is featured here in a hand-painted silk brocade dress from the collection, which this season, for the first time, was shown in Paris – "to make it more special, more important," the designer said.
Prada describes the autumn/winter collection, unveiled to a small audience in the Left Bank restaurant, Laperouse, as "angelic" when compared to the Prada main line with its focus on industrial shapes and fabrics embellished with roughly cut animal skins. "Miu Miu is always more about fashion," she says, "more about atmosphere, more sensual and so it's light in general. It's also more free, less serious although not necessarily younger as age is not fundamental. For me, spirit is more important than age. It's more an idea and the spirit that counts."
"I prefer the lo-fi rather than the hi-fi," says Katerina Jebb, the artist who is perhaps best known for her giant photocopied montages. "Kylie can be very like that too. I wanted to present her in a more obscure way. Take away that kind of lip-glossed, manufactured image."
