We're keeping positive about the changing seasons with a gloriously autumnal Love of the Week: Iris & Ink's vinyl skirt, loved by Laura Bradley
OK, we get it. Summer is over. Mornings and evenings are dark, coats are being toyed with, shorts are being stowed away and we’re undergoing a textural changeover. Silk and linen are banished, wool is replacing cotton, and sophisticated, steadfast lines are taking over from August’s diaphanous wisps. This sea change has been chimed in by the winning post on AnOther Loves: an Iris & Ink textured vinyl skirt, loved by AnOther’s Commissioning Editor Laura Bradley.
Perfect for adding a definitive sense of seasonal switchover, a black vinyl skirt exudes confidence and an absence of nostalgia, welcoming autumn with open arms. Sexy and sensual without being ribald, it is the perfect balance of coquetry and mystery, as demonstrated by Maria Loks who wears it in our exclusive film Or Maybe Just Happy. So, as Bradley sweeps across America enjoying the Californian sunshine on Doug Aitken's Station to Station train, we ask her what inspired this Love and to name her leather skirt sporting heroines.
Why did you choose to Love this skirt?
I've been thinking about investing in a vinyl skirt for some time. I love the length and shape of this one.
Where would you wear it and what with?
It's a pretty striking piece so would need to be balanced with a soft cashmere jumper, perhaps in pink, and work with some Nike Air Max. The skirt is sexy so anything else similarity provocative would just be too much.
If this was worn as a costume in a film, which film would it be, and which character would it be worn by?
Eva Mendes or Eva Green. Both of them super sexy and inspiring women. In a modern reworking of Night Porter.
Lace, leather, fur or feather?
Battered leather. It smells great.
Who are your style inspirations?
Caroline Newell (a stylist) is one of the coolest girls I know. She just bought a skateboard.
What are you excited about for autumn?
I'm writing this whilst riding Doug Aitken and Levi's Station to Station train across California. It's been amazing but I'll need a good autumn rest afterwards.
What was the last thing you bought?
My first tracksuit. It's like a big cuddle. I strongly recommend everyone to invest in one.
